About this Episode
Opening Song:
Inheritance by Anabeth Morgan
Lyrics:
My portion You will be for in You I am complete
I am satisfied Lord I'm satisfied in You
The rock on which I stand
When life's like shifting sand
I rest on You Lord I rest on You
For You have called me Your own
Now I run to Your throne Lord
You are my inheritance and in You I find all I need
For You are my inheritance
And in You I find everything
My comfort You will be the light that shines to see
There is hope again there is hope again in You
The place I call my home
Your eternal love has shown
I can trust in You Lord I trust in You
Strength in You there's hope in You
There's peace in You joy in You
Life in You I'm found in You I am found in You
You have called me Your own
Lord You have called me Your own
Now I run to Your throne Your throne
Passage:
13 Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” 14 But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator over you?” 15 And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” 16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

Musical Reflection:
“Amazing Grace,” Appalachian folk tune
Reflection Notes:
This beloved tune, formally known as NEW BRITAIN, originates from the folk music of Appalachia. The melody is simple and outlines triads, making it memorable; the ascending line creates a triumphant climax.
Prayer:
O God, who declares thy almighty power most chiefly in showing mercy and pity, mercifully grant to us such a measure of thy grace that we, running the way of thy commandments, may obtain thy gracious promises and be made partakers of thy heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
